  Herd 2 - Mixed Tour 1 2010

General NewsHerd 2 at MT1 2010 also saw us facing of against some of the new kids on the block and a few changed current teams.

Herd 2 at MT1 Cardiff

Firstly, thanks to everyone for making the trip down to Cardiff this weekend. Looking at the rain this morning made us think how lucky we were to stay (relatively) warm and dry for the whole tournament.

Tour kicked off to a great start for Herd 2 with a trouncing of ABH 2 by 13-2. we were really pleased with the way we kept the pressure up and didn't allow them to get even a tiny foothold in that game.

Next up for us was Lemmings and we had a shocking start. An early time-out allowed us to regroup and that had the desired effect. We came back out fighting much harder and took the game all the way to the cap. Our bad start cost us however and despite eating into Lemmings early lead we couldn't overcome the problems we'd created for ourselves due to our slow start.

Our final game was against the Golden Ants. They are a strong agressive team and we appeared a little sluggish after our earlier game (not to mention marching across to our non-existant pitch and back!). Again our effort on defence was brilliant, and everyone worked very hard to try and contain the Ants. Fatigue was creeping in on offence though and that led to some unforced errors that gave them some easy scores.

Sunday morning arrived with everyone feeling the effects of the clock change. One or two of us were also feeling the effects of 2 pound Jager-bombs! As a result we gave Curve an easier time than they deserved. Glenn showed us why we should never stop chasing, getting a great D when their 2 players mis-communicated, but overall we were a little disappointing in this game.

A bit more time to rest and sober up had us in better form for Bear Cavalry 2. Here was a great example of how important a good start can be. We came out firing and took a good lead that left us in a comfortable position and we closed out the game without too much trouble.

Back-to-back games proved to be a little too much for us though when it came to Strange Blue. Again we worked really hard on defence but tiredness led to us throwing away too often on offence. Pleasingly though, no one gave up and we fought hard right to the end.

So overall, we've managed to keep our spot as the highest ranked second team on tour (not-counting Codhand 2). However we have dropped 3 places on our seeding and didn't manage to beat any first teams. Some of the first teams around us are definitely beatable and we want that to be one of our big goals for MT2.

All the best folks

Jazz and Rishi
